Earth Yay! is designed to educate, inspire, and activate. Join us in celebrating Earth Day and building a more sustainable future together.
π± About Earth Yay!
Earth Yay! is a community-centered Earth Day celebration bringing together students, educators, and local organizations to explore sustainability, environmental stewardship, and the future of our region.
This event is built around a simple idea: Learn where you live. Protect where you live.
Through hands-on activities, community connections, and creative expression, Earth Yay! highlights the incredible environmental work happening across Kitsap County and the Olympic Peninsula.
π What to Expect
- πͺ Community Booths: Connect with local nonprofits, conservation groups, and sustainability leaders working across our region.
- π± Plant & Seed Exchange: Bring a plant, take a plant, or learn how to start growing your own. Seed donations and starter plants available while supplies last.
- π¨ Chalkabilities Art Competition: A campus-wide chalk art experience featuring student-created designs focused on environmental themes.
- π§ͺ Interactive Activities: Hands-on learning opportunities, demonstrations, and sustainability education for all ages.
- π΄ Food & Community: Local food vendors and space to gather, connect, and celebrate Earth Day together.

Earth Day Chalk Art Competition
9:00 AM β 1:00 PM
Olympic College Poulsbo Campus
Students, faculty, and staff will create chalk art designs across campus in 3-foot-by-3-foot spaces.
Awards will be given for:
- Most Creative
- Best Environmental Message
- Most Hopeful
- Most Unhinged
- Fan Favorite
Artwork will remain on display throughout the Earth Yay! event (weather permitting).

We are inviting environmentally focused organizations to host booths and engage with the community.
Space is limited and priority is given to organizations aligned with sustainability, conservation, and environmental education.

Earth Yay! is part of a full week of Earth Week programming across Olympic College campuses, including panels, workshops, and sustainability activities.

April 20 to 24, 2026
Events will take place across Bremerton, Poulsbo, and Shelton campuses and include:
β’ Earth Week display and clothing donation drive at the Haselwood Library
β’ Student Sustainability Club panel on local environmental issues
β’ Composting education sessions during lunch hours
β’ Sustainability and geography drop-in at the Shelton campus
β’ Garden Extravaganza with hands-on learning and planting activities
β’ Tree Hour campus walking tour

This is a space to learn from local leaders, connect with community partners, explore environmental pathways, and take meaningful steps toward sustainability. Together, we are building a stronger, more connected environmental community in Kitsap.

We are proud to welcome a growing group of organizations working to protect, restore, and sustain the natural environments of our region. Meet some of the partners you can connect with at Earth Yay!
Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation
The Xerces Society is an international nonprofit dedicated to protecting the natural world through the conservation of invertebrates and their habitats.
At Earth Yay, Xerces will share ways to support pollinators and beneficial insects at home, along with engaging, hands-on activities for all ages that highlight the importance of bugs in our ecosystems.
Kitsap County Parks
Kitsap County Parks stewards parks, open spaces, and recreational facilities that support community well-being and environmental sustainability.
Stop by to learn about volunteer opportunities and how you can get involved in caring for local parks and natural spaces.
WSU Kitsap Master Gardeners
WSU Master Gardeners provide free, research-based gardening and environmental stewardship guidance to the community.
Visit their booth to learn about sustainable gardening practices, ask questions, and explore ways to grow successfully in our region.
Kitsap Conservation District
Kitsap Conservation District works with landowners and the community to protect natural resources through conservation programs, habitat restoration, and sustainable land use practices.
At Earth Yay, they will share information about their programs, including habitat restoration, stormwater solutions, and opportunities to get involved in local conservation efforts.
SEA Discovery Center
SEA Discovery Center connects the community to the animals, habitats, and cultures of the Salish Sea through hands-on, experiential learning.
Stop by to learn more about marine ecosystems, volunteer opportunities, and ways to engage in conservation efforts that protect our local waters.
